Activity1 - The preparation phase

• Recruitment and selection process of young candidates for the EVS (this activity will be carried out by all sending organizations)
• Planning of volunteers’ departure to Europe: visa, flights, accommodation in Italy (this activity will be carried out by bbjshare.it Italy, and by the other hosting organizations with support of the sending Cambodian organizations
• Pre-departure training on the following topics: themes and objectives of the European Voluntary Service; information about Europe and intercultural preparation; techniques of mediation and non-violent resolution of conflicts; support to volunteers’ motivation and expectations, health assistance preparation; information on climate (this activity will be carried out by the sending organizations strongly supported by bbjshare.it)

EVS implementat phase

• The 12 young Cambodian volunteers will be hosted by 4 European organizations, where they will carry out the voluntary service (the volunteers will be hosted by: bbjshare.it, Eurocultura and CE.S.I.E and VERTIGEM).
• The hosting organizations will organize a training upon arrival, with support of the Youth National Agencies in Italy and Portugal, as well as a preliminary introduction and sensitization, brief language course (Italian or Portuguese) and course on uses and costumes of the country in order to help youngsters in the integration process (the activity will be carried out by: bbjshare.it, Eurocultura, CE.S.I.E and VERTGEM). Language courses and cultural tours are foreseen, in order to ease the integration in the local community and the adaptation to a new culture respectively organizations.

Phase of evaluation of the experience upon return

• Upon return to their own country, Cambodian young volunteers will be involved by the sending organizations in the process of evaluation of the experience and of the results obtained. This activity aims at pointing out and analysing the strengths and the critical parts of the project in order to identify the impact both on the European organization community and on volunteers. During this phase, interested volunteers may develop new ideas and proposals for future projects on how to best engage with volunteers and also to employ the EVS experience. The evaluation of the project will be at disposal of bbjshare.it and its partners as a sort of touchstone for future projects.   read more
